Vilonia…..
The Land of Two Valleys

As early as 1861, pioneers began to settle in the area known as Cypress Township about 14 miles east of Conway. The settlers choose the name “Vilsonia” which means “land of two valleys”.

The Masons were active in those early years and when they made application for national affiliation in 1873, the name went into the national register without the “s” in Vilsonia. Rather than go to the trouble of changing it, they accepted Vilonia as the official spelling.

During the 1990’s the city nearly doubled its size. Numerous new residential developments continue this pattern of growth today. Many families are attracted to Vilonia’s excellent public school district whose test scores are often above state and national averages.

Vilonia is a vibrant, growing community ideally located between Conway and Beebe and just to the north of the Little Rock Air Force Base. With nearby big-city amenities yet a quiet rural lifestyle, Vilonia offers the best of both worlds.
